Is this communicator the highly revered Chinese philosopher K'ung-fu-tzu (Confucius)?

A Chinese philosopher communicates

Recorded: July 30th 1959

“I lived on Earth centuries ago, in China.

I have been called by several names...”

This fascinating recording was originally labelled 'Confucius'

- although the spirit communicator never actually reveals his name.

Akin to a spiritual 'warrior', this unnamed communicator explains
that there many people on Earth who truly believe they are in direct contact with higher souls, when they are not.

He says such direct communication is impossible

and that many who claim to be spiritually enlightened

are just too materialistic and vain.

He explains that becoming spiritual is a gradual process of development
and progress, because we cannot gain all knowledge in only one existence...

“There is war... because the world is run by fear.”

Note: Although this vintage recording has been enhanced for clarity,
the volume decreases towards the end.

Present: Betty Greene, George Woods, Leslie Flint.

Communicator: Unnamed Chinese Philosopher.

Spirit Voice:

[unintelligible]

Woods:

Hello?

Spirit:

...uh...and it is with great pleasure...

Woods:

Oh, very nice...

Spirit:

...that I and other souls here come to communicate with you. But...I suppose it is quite a fact known to you that we on this side do not...uh, find it... uh, very simple to describe many things which are common occurrence, natural surrounding to us.

Greene:

Mmm?

Spirit:

To explain these things in, uh... in earthly terms - language - though not exactly an impossibility, it's certainly a very confusing and very difficult.

Though there are many aspects of our lives which are, in some ways, very much like the Earth, when we refer to those conditions of existence in our plane, we are referring to a condition of life which is enjoyed chiefly by people who have only recently left your world.

And therefore, people who's mentality is such that they have not completely shed themselves of material thought and condition. They have, in others words, not made very much progress and in consequence, they have found an environment which they themselves are mentally tuned into or adjusted to by their earthly thoughts.

But when you ask souls on this side who have been here, often centuries of time, as you understand the meaning of time, who have made tremendous spiritual progression - they are in an environment so far removed from anything which you can imagine or can be depicted or described to you, that it becomes increasingly difficult for any soul who can manifest at all, to describe the condition under which they exist.

Whatever they may give to you must be brought down to an earthly level of understanding. In other words, you can only receive a very poor picture of the realities...

Green:

Uh-huh...

Spirit:

...of which we are conscious, in as much that we are limited by the very conditions under which we have to communicate with you. With all the goodwill, with all the desire that you may have within your heart to be co-operative, nevertheless, there are limitations - which are set by yourselves, by the very conditions under which you live.

Greene:

Mmm...

Spirit:

But nevertheless, we strive to advise you, to guide and to help you.

Greene:

May I ask who it is speaking?

Spirit:

I have lived on your plane of Earth centuries ago, in China.

Greene:

Oh, yes.

Spirit:

I have been called by several names...

[Sound of passing traffic]

Spirit:

...and I do not feel that it would be any advantage for you were to know these names, by which I was known. For a man who was wise, as you understand it, upon Earth...

Greene:

Uh-huh...

Spirit:

...as soon as he passes through the gates called death, he realises that his Earthly wisdom was as naught.

Wisdom is purely the condition or state of being which may apply, and does apply, until such time as you have progressed to a further state - and that which was wisdom in the past becomes ignorance, in consequence of the wisdom gained.

Wisdom is something which is a state of being according to one's knowledge of things appertaining at the time. But that which was true yesterday, though it has still has elements of truth, is not so in the light of new knowledge.

Knowledge is something which is ever changing. Man is ever experiencing new things, gaining greater understanding, greater realisation, greater wisdom and, in consequence, because movement is life, because man cannot remain stationary, knowledge becomes

ignorance through the light of new knowledge.

Wisdom which was of yesterday is not wisdom of today, because one has gained greater wisdom through experience. That is why, when you come to us, though you have knowledge and wisdom to a point, it is only we who come to you with a greater knowledge and a greater wisdom.

We realise how difficult it is to give you, as we would wish to give you, greater illumination. We strive to overcome complication and difficulty created, oft-times, in ignorance in your world.

Throughout your world you have great teachers - so-called great teachers - and great leaders, full of wisdom culled from all sources over centuries of time. And they gather together knowledge of ancient wisdom and they call themselves wise men - and yet their wiseness and their wisdom is as naught...

Greene:

Mmm...

Spirit:

...because it is not always factual. That which once applied, no longer applies, but the fundamental truths are there, nevertheless. They are obscured by man in his ignorance and the more, oft-times, he learns and knows, the more confused he becomes.

We who come to you know that man will only find divine truth when he himself becomes divine, when he himself becomes spiritually attuned into the higher spheres and the greater souls who come.

Oft-times we have heard it said at these meetings or séances, as you call them, people say, 'ah, it is all very interesting. We communicate with this and that person and sometimes we receive illumination', but always we realise that those who go groping in the darkness of your world, do not perceive as we would wish them to perceive. They do not realise as we would wish them to realise. For often, many of those who profess to know, know little - because they limit the power of the spirit within themselves.

Man cannot perceive light and he cannot achieve greatness in spiritual things until he himself is prepared to uplift himself completely above material things. You who go to these meetings, you gain here and there, knowledge of a kind. I do not despise this knowledge. But I say to you, that until those in your world who profess to seek the things of spirit are themselves - by very thought, nature and action - spiritual...

The limitations are great and the difficulties are many. We cannot help as we would wish. You commune with various souls who, in themselves, are good souls, in intent and in purpose, but they are not great souls. They are not necessarily highly advanced souls, but they come to you with love [and] desire to serve you and mankind, through you. But nevertheless, they are limited as you are limited. For all these conditions are conditions created [within] the very being of a [being]... person and group of people.

In nations among the peoples of Earth, you find there is war - war of thought, war within themselves and against each other. And that is because they have no faith, they have no trust, they have no realisation. The world is run by fear.

And do you not also realise that on the lower spheres of spirit there are souls, very akin to yourselves, who have not gained great enlightenment, have not gained great knowledge - who live together, it is true, in a kind of world or atmosphere of understanding and tolerance and love and affection.

But they are not great souls in wisdom, they are not great souls in spiritual understanding, they are not great people in realisation of truth. But they come to you, for they are nearer to the Earth. They can tell you things which are of interest to you, but their world is not unlike your world. They are not perfect beings; they are imperfect beings in process of change, in process of enlightenment, in process of condition of ch... of spiritual realisation.

But all these things that you desire from the higher realms of spirit, from the souls who have gained great truth and knowledge - through centuries of time and experience, they are limited - until you yourselves (and those who come to you from lower spheres) make possible the opportunity to contact on the highest possible vibration.

Greene:

Please, may I ask you something?

Spirit:

What my child?

Greene:

Can you describe your particular sphere to us?

Spirit:

No.

Greene:

You can't?

Spirit:

And I would not attempt to describe such a sphere as that on which I dwell, for there are no words that can depict these things. They can only be felt by the very oneness in tune... being in tune with us.

Greene:

I see.

Spirit:

It is something which you would have within your soul. We shall come to you with the realisation and an impact that is tremendous, when you are prepared and ready for it.

Those souls who come to you and describe things which, when you analyse, are very like your own world. They say to you, 'our world is wonderful. We have wonderful scenery, we have great natural surroundings, we have our homes, we have illumination. There is beauty and all the things you associate with goodness and loveliness.'

It is true, these things exist. They have a replica of the physical material world in all its beauty, in all its colour, without the disfigurements that man has brought about, without all the things which create havoc in the hearts and minds of man - and in their lives all this exists over here in beauty and in loveliness.

And I say that their state of being is a good one, but they have not yet visualised and realised the tremendous things that lie further ahead in the higher spheres - where it is impossible in words to depict in any shape or form such a condition of life, where we are not limited as even they are limited, as you are limited.

You cannot see these things, for you are not ready to see. You cannot understand these things, for you are not ready to understand. We are not in a world that is three dimensional. We are in a world that is four dimensional, which you could not possibly conceive or

understand. It is beyond your comprehension.

I am fully conscious of the desires of your heart to serve and to help others. But nevertheless, you will realise that those who come to you, are not so far removed from you.

In other words, they are souls who are, by nature, kind and considerate, who have made certain progression and they will tell you of their life and their condition of being in their own environment and world.

But you cannot hope to receive from the highest possible spheres, depictions of [a] condition of life which is so far removed beyond comprehension - even of souls on the lower spheres here. We must remember that all life is a gradual procession, through states and stages of being and it is not possible for certain souls on certain rates of vibration and certain conditions of life to be able to depict things to those on a much lower sphere.

We can send to you and you receive from various souls, certain things which are of value and help, but there are many things which you cannot yet perceive. And those who desire this knowledge will not find it until, at least, they themselves have, by their very nature and being, made it possible.

How often we hear people say this and that, ask this or that question but they are not even ready for the elementary things.

It is extraordinary how it is that people who have not the slightest knowledge, who have not, within themselves, the slightest indication

of spiritual progression, who expect that they shall receive from the higher spheres, great souls to come to them, to work with them.

It is only true that you would [wish] these souls come to you, that you are worthy to receive those souls that will be able to work with you accordingly. It would be impossible for certain souls to come and to work.

I have heard it said that in certain circles certain souls come, of very high origin and make direct contact. I deny this. I say that this is an impossibility. That you do not and cannot receive from certain souls on very high spheres, a direct contact. Because I know there is no one in your world, who has spiritually progressed to the state that they can tune in. It is not possible. It is an impossibility.

Man can only receive that which he himself has made possible by, not only his thoughts, but by his actions, by his very way of life. You may receive and do receive - which is quite a different thing - messages from highly evolved souls, but it is done through a system of relay. It is other souls on lower spheres [act as the mentor] they act, as it were, as the instrument. They transmit the message of spirit through the sources of instruments, to you.

But the direct contact; when I hear, as I have heard it said, that there are people in your world who have received direct contact with Jesus and other great souls, I [have] to say this is not true.

Greene:

No, I don't believe that. I don't think anybody has done that.

Spirit:

Man must realise that he is put into the Earth world and he progresses from the Earth world to other spheres, but all these different aspects of life or these different planes of being are stages of gradual development of progression. Man must progress through stage to stage. [He] cannot grasp in one existence, in one world, in one state of being, all knowledge.

Knowledge is always fluctuate, from condition to condition, according to wisdom gained in one experience. He finds in a new experience, greater wisdom. But he realises that all wisdom is part of the whole or the complete.

It is a little like steps or the rungs on the ladder which you climb. That child who falters and [clambers] on the bottom rung is beginning - but he cannot see how far the ladder goes. He cannot see how high and how tremendous it is, and it takes great courage to climb gradually and uncertainly, as often people must, and do, to the heights. And those who are right at the very top find it impossible, often, to climb down to the lowest level.

We are very conscious of the Earth's needs and of peoples’ desires. But we realise that the majority of those who are so-called spiritually minded, are far from being spiritually minded. Oft-times they are immersed in their own vanities, they are immersed in their own ideas and ideals and they are not content for themselves. Always they want more and more.

It is something to learn, to know; that a little knowledge, when understood properly, can help very much to greater knowledge. But there are those who have little knowledge who are vain and say, 'we have all knowledge' and begin to open new societies, new religious groups and bodies and will [attest] to the world that they contain all that is good and the others are bad.

There is no religious organisation, no religious body of people in your world that contain all truth. There are those who have a gleam of truth and then they distort it with their own ideas and vanities and they oft-times use it for their own material ends.

Even spiritual truth, when it is real truth, often is obscured by the vanities of man. He makes it a great religious organisation, he amasses wealth and fortune, he amasses buildings and possessions. He becomes, as it were, powerful over the minds of souls of people and binds them and creates havoc in their lives and the real truth is obscured.

I can think of many religious bodies in your world professing outwardly to be spiritual, but they are more material than the materialist who has no religion at all. No. Truth is something so tremendous that it shall make man free and make him realise that he is part of the divine plan, that he does not need the ceremonies and the outward shows and the material conditions to make him great.

Man is only great when first he is most humble. The more humble a man is, the more chance there is that he will become spiritually conscious and aware.

Those who seek high truths must first remember, that high truth can only be found when you shed yourself of all material things which bind you down mentally, physically and spiritually.

Many souls come to you and I have listened to their voices. They are good souls. They come with good intent and purpose to help, according to the conditions that may prevail from time to time. But remember, that those who seek the highest, must in themselves become like children. Remember the words of the great teacher, 'suffer the little children to come unto me, for of such is the kingdom of heaven.'

That was a parable, not only about small children that gather 'round him, it was a parable about children of all times, of all ages, all climes - children of nineteen years old or thousands of years old. For unless we are like children, [who have] to learn, to know, to understand; unless we come patiently, having faith and trust in our divine parent; unless we realise that we must be as children, we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven - which means that you cannot enter into the mysteries, you cannot enter into the tremendous truths. For you must have such faith and an open mind.

Many people who come to these meetings have not an open mind, though they profess to have it. Their minds are full of their own importance, full of their own pre-conceived ideas. Even those who preach from your platforms, who profess to be spiritually-minded are full of their own importance. And the little knowledge they have got is twisted and contorted into such ways, that it cannot give a true picture of things spiritual.

Remember that you must give out tremendously, not only from within yourself, but you must give out in such a way that you will draw to you, souls who will open the path for you and will make possible the treading of that path.

Those great souls that you desire to come, will come - of this I have no doubt. But realise that it will often be difficult, and when it comes to describing certain things in material sense, it is impossible. But we give to you that which we can give to you, under conditions and circumstances that may prevail.

To all those who seek I say, seek. At the same time remember, that you must be as children and have faith and keep open wide the door that it may enter therein and realise that truth is ever-changing. That which was truth yesterday won't remain as truth in the light of new truth.

It is only, as it were, a little aspect - for we must always remember, it is but a grain, like of sand in the desert of truth, a grain of truth in a huge sea of sand or desert.

We don't know how to tell you things, for it is not possible. Words [make it] impossible, but we can make you perceive it, we can make you conscious of it within yourselves, within your soul.

But in time, with your co-operation and love and patience and tolerance, we will [open] a little more of the path for you - but it will require great patience on our side and on yours.

Greene:

Thank you.
