Part Two

A Bridge Between Two Worlds
.
Communications by Rudolph Valentino
From the Spirit World.

p106-110

Individuals seem to claim priority and that worries me, particularly when they refer to me, because no one has any priority. If in some incarnation I may have been particularly close to a particular person, that was important for that particular time for each of us, for all of us perhaps indirectly, but only when people are completely freed of possessiveness, only when they have completely understood that in completely giving of themselves that they find release from all the material things that held man back in progress. Those that have a possessive aspect of nature, whether it is in regard to me or someone else, they have not really advanced, because they are still on a physical plane in their outlook, they are not truly on a spiritual one. True love, true development of the soul and the development of the Spirit, is only found, indeed, you only begin to tread the path of true progression when you forget self, and that anyone is in anyway bound to you.

There are ties of love, but we must remember that it is only of the highest form, in the greatest possible way of enfoldment that we can hope to find our true selves, and to truly serve, and truly become complete in consequence. Those who still consider that they are tied or linked particularly in a particular way with a person, they are wrong; they must give up that idea. We are all part of each other, and we cannot escape from that, there is no reason why we should desire to escape from it. These people who insist on considering that they are more important or that they have a greater right to another person are mistaken.

They have not grasped the true meaning of Spiritual love and spiritual progression. We are all important one to the other. But no one should feel that because perhaps in previous incarnations, or perhaps for some special reason that they are more important than another person, or that another person is more important to them. We must respect each other; we must have regard for each other. We may have affection and deep love for each other, but we must remember that that which we are respecting, that which we are regarding, that which we are loving is still only one minute aspect of the complete person. We do not yet know that person, we may have had some kind of revelation in regard to that person, and we may have seen some aspect of that true self of Spiritual self or revelation of their soul.

But when we have really made progression in a true sense, when we have grown up, as you might say, we realize that each one of us are a part of the other each on of us are like grains of sand in the desert that make up the complete whole. We are all vital; you cannot do without the other. One person cannot aspire; one person can not progress without the aid and help of untold numbers of people. All these lives of ours are so important, because we have meant much to each other. We must love each other, but at the same time we must not be possessive, we must give freely of ourselves, and accept freely and gratefully from others.

Never feel that we are in anyway indebted one to another, for where there is true love we give and we receive equally, for in giving of our selves and receiving from others all that they can give, we are gradually perfecting ourselves and receiving from others all that they can give, we are quietly perfecting ourselves through trials and tribulations, difficulties and complexities, and above all love has been the guiding light that has shown the path, and made possible the way. When we forget our selfish earthly motives, when we consider ourselves you might almost say, unimportant, although in a sense we know we cannot be unimportant in God’s scheme, when we realize that we are only partakers of that which is provided for a time, and by that provision we are learning, and when we can give ourselves completely and absolutely in love and service, we find that happiness which we seem is so elusive on earth.

True happiness comes only when we have forgotten ourselves, and our material motives, or our material desires. These things are human, I do not belittle them, I do not want anyone to feel or to think that I do not understand or that I am out of sympathy with the complexities and difficulties of an earthly existence. I realize the importance of happiness but happiness no matter how it may come to you, and no matter how long it may stay with you, in a sense from a material point of view it is but transitory, it must pass. What is important is Spiritual awareness, Spiritual Consciousness, Spiritual happiness in the realization of having achieved through love and sacrifice.

These are the things that are important, to give to receive equally, but to love in all manner of ways, in to all things, and to know that only by loving service, can we hope to achieve that which we desire. I want you and all who try to understand to realize these things, and to know that one second of our time at any period of history, or any period of time itself has ever been wasted. We have learnt from all things, good and bad, and out of much that has been bad has come good in consequence.

One should not be afraid of the bad; one should face it and accept it, and learn from it. But above all one should strive in all things to love, and to give in love and service to all who ask and those who do not ask. And to know that in that way do we find that elusive happiness, that elusive peace that comes through perfect joy and understanding of the things that are eternal. These are the things that are important, all the other things, they are important in themselves, but they are only the means towards the ultimate goal that is set, whereby we can all share and find in consequence the peace and the love of the Spirit. It is a mistaken idea, I think, that many people have that only the best reach the top or the surface, It is not necessarily so. Quite often the best people drown while other people are saved. Quite often people who reach high places are ruthless, materially ruthless. They have no consideration for other people.

They push them out of the way, get rid of them if necessary. That is why you have Hitlers and Mussolinis and all these people who rise and take charge. They become dictators and they bring the world into a terrible situation. It is an amazing thing how so often the vast majority of people are like sheep that are led to the slaughter and they just cannot get rid of the bad shepherds. At the present moment everything is very bad, the conditions in your world. It looks very much as if there is going to be real trouble and we are trying desperately to prevent it spreading. We cannot do as much as we wish. We cannot make people do anything if they don't wish to do it, we can influence people, we can cajole, we can impress people to do things but they still have the right to make their own decisions.

You can only help people when they show a spark, you know, of desire to change. If there are just a few people who are anxious for good, then we can work with those people and influence them and they can influence other people. It is like the snowball, it gets bigger and bigger, but it is very difficult where people have control of nations because quite often the very people that obtain those positions by the very nature of the fact that they have reached that high place is quite often because they are very materialistic not because they have any Spiritual desires or Spiritual asperations. It is invariably the worst type of materialist that reaches the top and it is even more difficult, of course, to do very much with them. We are striving all the time for peace. But there is no peace anywhere, not only in nations but in individuals, in homes. It is an extraordinary thing but everyone seems to be becoming more and. more materialistic, more concerned. with themselves, There seems to be less and less giving, less and less sharing. Here and there are individuals, fundamentally most people wish to do the right thing but very few ever do.

Most people when it comes to the push, as you say, they think only of themselves. I don't think there will be a third world war because I think everyone is too much afraid of it and the consequences. But they play games, dangerous games, they see how far they can go, they take chances. these things are not good because these things can make all sorts of complications and problems, I think there is bound to be trouble, the situation will not be solved quickly or easily. I think this is something that will continue for quite a long time. I don't necessarily mean by that that there will be a war in the fullest sense of the word but all the while there are wars going on, they seem small to people who are outside them but they are not so small to people who are concerned in them.

I think that with Egypt and Israel there is going to be this terrible atmosphere which will in some measure develop, as it cannot be avoided. I think the Arabs are determined to get Israel out eventually sooner or later. It is very sad, a very difficult situation but I don't think it will develop into a third world war. I don't think that the great nation will come to war in that sense. There will be threats and there will be complicated situations but not war.

As long as someone doesn't do something rash, bring things to a head and then try something they cannot stop, that is the great danger, that is what is happening, of course, in Vietnam, but that so far fortunately does not involve the whole world. I don't think it will but I think that sooner or later something will have to be done. No one can win wars anymore, not that they ever did really. Wars are impoeaible. Everyone must suffer from war and I think everyone in their hearts knows this, Certainly the big nations know it but they have to keep up their prestige and that is the big danger. That is the extraordinary thing it is all bluff, bluff all the time and they all know it is bluff, bluff, bluff and they play the dangerous game. We have been working with everybody that we could impress.

Everybody that shows signs of being sensitive enough to appreciate and to accept the thoughts that we have been trying to put through to them. Of course, people do not necessarily know that we are doing this, but that does not matter as long as what, we hope, will be achieved. It does not matter how it comes as long as it happens and will bring peace. I mean, we have been impressing every human being that we can influence towards this, to bring about a reaction, so that the feeling of the world would be so strong that they would by nature have to do something, that they would realize that this is something that has to stop.

Everything that we can do we have been doing and gradually I think it is beginning to take effect. Of course we don't work just on one side, we work on every side. We are concerned with every human being that is involved, and even those who are not involved. We have impressed everybody in every possible way to bring about some understanding and eventual peace. You know, this is a terrible war. This is an unforgiveable war. There is no justification for this war at all. I mean not that we think any war is justifiable but, nevertheless, there are some wars where circumstances make it so that there could be very little else but war.
